A Word For The Elders and Deacons
By "Rev. Michael Mack"
Greetings to my fellow believers and laborers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I write to encourage all those serving as leaders in the Body of Christ, especially in the middle of a pandemic. I believe this is one of the greatest times in our history for the church. God has provided an opportunity for the church and those truly serving Him to be on display for His glory. It is of urgency that the Elders and Leaders in the church recognize and acknowledge our important role in this present season. As elder we may have sacrificed a lot, yet those sacrifices equates to no comparison to God sacrificing His only son. Knowing this and taking confidence in it, I would like to remind us of the importance of serving during this time of uncertainties. First and foremost we are the pillars and foundation of the church. Our lives are under examination by GOD and scrutiny by those we Sheppard and lead. So let us be examples; following through on what Jesus said, “you are my disciple indeed if you continue in my word” (John 8:31). In other words stay focused, committed and steadfast in Jesus Christ. Furthermore, Paul said, “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ” (1Corinthains 11:1). Secondly elders be examples of that heavenly Joy. Which reminds me of when Ezra said, “The joy of the Lord is your Strength” (Nehemiah 8:10) he was speaking to the remnant of Israel who had returned to Judah to rebuild the city and its temple which was in ruins. As elder /leader Ezra took the opportunity to offer joy and hope to God’s people doing a great challenge. Finally I am reminded as an elder to LOVE unconditionally and to render to Caesar what is Caesar and to God what belongs to him. It should be noted that while not inclusive, these are important while serving during a pandemic as a Pastor, Minister, Elder or Deacon. My simple message is to stay focused, maintain your heavenly joy and walk in the love that our heavenly father has bestowed upon us. Yes, even in the middle of an ongoing world crisis. BLESSINGS.
